Imagine it’s a cold winter Tuesday morning.
The alarm goes off.
You instinctively reach for the snooze button. The blanket is warm. The room is not. Your mind begins negotiating:
“It’s just one day.”
“I’ll go tomorrow.”
“Missing once won’t matter.”
Comfort is persuasive.
But then your accountability partner messages:
“You up?”
Suddenly, it’s not about motivation.
It’s about identity.
You drag yourself out of bed. Not because you feel like it - but because you decided long ago what kind of person you want to be.
Money works the same way.
There are months when you won’t feel like opening your spreadsheet. When you don’t want to look at your net worth. When markets dip. When spending blows out. When life feels heavy.
That’s when you need someone metaphorically saying:
“You coming?”
That’s the foundation of the 2pie2fi Monthly Accountability Circle.
Why I’m starting this
About a year or so back - I started writing and the reason for starting 2PietoFI is captured in this post. Since then I’ve received numerous messages, calls and connections appreciating me putting out these words. Which is much more genuine and authentic. So, thank you to everyone who has made an attempt in reaching out to me and appreciating me - this is such a great feeling. Truly, it’s much more rewarding than receiving a “soul less” appreciation email at work saying “Thanks for all your hard work.”
As a evolution on this journey - I want to take it to the next stage in experimenting this Monthly Accountability Circle. If this interests read on:
Over the last few years, I’ve been reading and listening obsessively to books around:
The purpose of life
The meaning of life
Money
Impact
Intentional living
One idea kept haunting me.
We have roughly 4,000 weeks in a human lifetime.
If I’m lucky enough to get that average, I also acknowledge that more than half of mine is already behind me. YES - It’s GONE!
That reality changes how you think.
It forces the question:
How do I want to use the remaining weeks?
Not just to earn.
Not just to accumulate.
But to contribute.
One book that deeply shaped this reflection is Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl.
It’s one of the most powerful books I’ve ever read.
Gas Chamber, Suffering, Holding on to life in the extreme circumstances, Auschwitz. Head circles around these thoughts from the book.
Most importantly, Frankl makes his point - that meaning isn’t something we’re given. It’s something we choose - often through responsibility and service.
That idea stayed with me.
I asked myself:
In my own small way, how can I be useful?
Not on a stage.
Not to thousands.
But to a handful of people who genuinely need support.
Genuinely an experiment to see how this part of journey will pan out.
And by the way, this circle is an experiment in that purpose journey
Not for money.
Not for scale.
Not for followers.
But for impact.
In a world obsessed with “more” - more likes, more reach, more growth - I’m intentionally choosing small.
Depth over scale.
Comrades over audience.
Karma over commerce.
This is not a paid group.
There are no promotions.
No shills.
No advertisements.
No funnels.
Just intentional value - to hold each other accountable in the journey to get there.
What this circle is
This is a behavioural accountability room.
Not an advice room.
Not a trading room.
Not a hype room.
It’s built around two simple structures:
The primary goal (non-negotiable)
One of the simple thing that I’ve done to take care of my finances is track my net worth and keep it going with discipline and consistency for a long period of time. I started this in 2022 and since then I’ve not missed a single month.
And I do think this single change has been the major contribution to where I’m with my finances.
So, here is what I request every member to commit to:
Update your net worth - monthly
That’s it.
Once a month.
Without fail.
You don’t have to share real numbers.
You can:
Grey them out.
Mask them.
Blur them.
But please be genuine to yourself and others and share a proof that you did it. It motivates others too to take control.
Because this isn’t about comparison.
It’s about identity.
Every action you take is an identity to the type of the person you’re becoming. - James Clear
When you update your net worth - especially on months you don’t want to - you reinforce:
“I am someone who faces my finances and want to take control of my money.”
Miss once? Fine.
When you miss a routine for once it’s okay and if you miss it twice it’s the start of beginning a new habit. - James Clear
This circle exists to prevent the second miss and to hold you accountable to what you committed.
The secondary goal (self-defined)
This is personal to you and based on where you are with your life stage and circumstance.
It could be:
Paying off a credit card
Saving for a home deposit
Building an emergency fund
Paying down your mortgage
Investing toward financial independence
Clearing personal debt
Increasing savings rate
Anything.
But here’s the important rule:
One at a time.
When you stack multiple goals, nothing moves.
Focus creates momentum.
Once your immediate secondary goal gains traction or is achieved, you can move to the next.
Each month, you share:
What you committed to
What actions you took toward it
Again - no need to share raw numbers.
Just accountability of behaviour.
What this circle isn’t
Let’s be very clear.
❌ No personalised financial advice
❌ No stock or crypto buy/sell signals
❌ No hot tips
❌ No market predictions
❌ No paid membership
❌ No marketing
Because:
Money solves only money problems. - Naval Ravikant
It doesn’t solve identity problems.
It doesn’t solve comparison.
It doesn’t solve purpose.
This circle is about behaviour - the one lever that compounds quietly over years.
Why do I want to keep it under 10?
In big groups, people disappear.
In small rooms, people show up.
In a world where everyone is trying to grow an audience, I’m intentionally shrinking this.
Fewer than 10 people at any time.
When someone builds consistency - when updating net worth becomes automatic - they graduate.
Just like in schools and colleges
They leave to give space to someone else.
And I urge you to leave and make space for someone else.
This is not a lifelong membership.
It’s a training ground to build that discipline and consistency muscle with money.
Okay, what do I get out of this?
A fair question.
What do I gain?
Meaning.
Comradeship.
Fulfilment.
An experiment in attempting to doing something to be more intentional and purposeful.
Most importantly, the quiet satisfaction of knowing that in my remaining weeks, I chose to create something useful.
We’re all walking our own financial journeys.
But walking with comrades makes the road less lonelier.
If this circle helps even a handful of people move from anxiety to clarity - from avoidance to ownership - that’s a REAL impact.
And impact, to me is a worthy use of time.
Back to that calm Tuesday morning
Imagine waking up on a random Tuesday.
No financial anxiety humming in the background.
No avoidance.
No guilt.
You check your numbers calmly.
Because you’ve built the habit.
Month after month.
Even on the cold mornings.
Even on the frustrating months.
You didn’t hit snooze on your financial life.
And now money is quiet.
Not flashy.
Not dramatic.
Just steady.
